Football & Cheerleading: Fall 2009

Scott had his 1st flag football game today & Caroline cheered for her 1st football game today. They both did GREAT! Scott pulled a flag to get a safety for 2 points & ran 3/4 of the field to earn 6 points for a touchdown. His team won 14 to 6. We didn't video the first game b/c we figured it'd take time to learn the game... yeah right! It was a good start & we all had fun cheering for the purple & gold.

Our final Teddy Bear Parade

Kindergarten's Teddy Bear Parade: This is our 3rd Teddy Bear Parade as parents & it's always a lot of fun to have your child make a float for their favorite teddy bear/stuffed animal. Mackenzie brought Emma & they dressed alike... go Pack!

I was able to volunteer in the media center to help the children with their Teddy Bear centers today. My station was coloring teddy bear puppets. Mackenzie is a GREAT colorer. She looks a little tired come the end of the day, but she was counting down the days to the parade all week long. Daddy helped her with her shoebox float... it turned out great!

Cherre, Mackenzie & Emma

Daddy, Mackenzie & Emma... thanks for leaving work to come see me daddy!

Birthday Boy turns 10

The kids had a blast trying to bust the pinata at Scott's party!

Scott & his friend, Johnson, had a great time in the arcade after 2 rounds of putt-putt and a fun game of laser tag. Laser tag was their favorite!

Mackenzie added a blue spider ring to Scott's cupcake. The girls made pizzas for lunch after Scott's party. It was SO good!

On Scott's actual birthdate, I had a genealogy class at church and he had football practice, but I made one of his favorites for dinner: chicken enchilada, then, when we were all home for the night, we had a special dessert: Oreo Cream Pie... to celebrate SCOTT. It was a great, fun-filled weekend for our family. It started with a family picnic & a game of frisbee golf at a park near NCSU... I made pizza calzone for the picnic, as it's a favorite of Scott's. We let him open a gift early: frisbee golf discs... so we were able to try to play for the first time. His party was Saturday, so that was a fun-filled morning at Adventure Landing, then we had September b-day gathering at the Simpson's on Sunday, we went out to eat Mexican with Eric's side of the family Monday night & come Tuesday, Scott's big day, daddy went to school to join Scott for lunch & mother picked him up early to do some birthday shopping. Scott had the BEST birthday because he celebrated for 5 days straight. We just LOVE him... he's a blessing in our lives.

Kayak

Labor Day was SO relaxing... down time as a family is ALWAYS great! We started our morning off with some kayaking & fishing at a local lake. Here's a picture of Scott & I BEFORE our race!

Caroline was brave & ending up enjoying her solo time in the kayak. Eric was out there beside her, in another kayak, but, she definitely felt nervous about being in the kayak by herself at first. She hung in there and ended up enjoying it.

Mackenzie on the other hand didn't want daddy in the kayak with her. She has kayaked by herself near the dock at the lake, so she didn't understand why she couldn't go solo on this lake. But, she ended up having fun despite her chaperone.

The boys brought back some lily pads for us girls to see up close. It was quite amazing to play with the lily pad & water... the water made it look silver, etc. The kids had to bring one home even.

Those who weren't kayaking were left to fish. My kids know much more about fishing than I do. Even Mackenzie can cast by herself. She also showed me lots of lures, telling me how some of them look like earrings. No wonder she likes fishing!
The weather was GREAT for our plans... nice and overcast. Made for a great half-day. We spent the other half of our day getting some work done (trimming hedges, canning wheat, etc.) We ended our family day by grilling, then making a trip to Lowes & DQ for dessert. We even got to bed early. It was a great day... and productive too!

TWINS!

So, we're eating breakfast Saturday morning before the boys head out to hunt dove on opening day & goodness, Eric and Scott looked so much alike I had to get a picture. Like father, like son... the apple doesn't fall far from the tree: here's proof! Gotta love'em.

Girlie Girl!

Here's Caroline being a girlie-girl getting her hair all curly-curled. I think she liked it best WITH the rollers in... it was SO funny to see herself with big ole curlers in her hair. I'm just glad she let me do it!
