We really enjoyed the sights inside Linville Caverns. Here's a picture of Caroline walking through some tight spots in the cave.

Scott was quite interested in the formations we saw inside Linville Caverns.

Caroline thought the green, slimy stalagtite was awesome.

Mackenzie didn't freak out when we entered total darkness. They explained that 6 months of total darkness would result in blindness, but after a month, we'd be insane, so at that point, blindness may be a bonus.

Caroline's new hair-do OR... should I say hair-don't?

While at the mountains, I asked Caroline to go fix her hair. This was the result: a coon's hat ponytail. She's a hoot!

Take a HIKE

The children enjoyed the hike to Linville Falls... there were plenty of rocks & tree trunks to climb on the hike.
Linville Falls: Our family made it to the top of the trail with only 1 minor incident... Mackenzie had a fall. But, it wasn't long before she was all smiles again.

The happy couple... so happy to have some free time together! And, we've raised quite a photographer. Thanks Scott! Our kids posed along the trail, asking us to take their pictures. Hikers around us thought it was quite comical... we filled 2 discs with pics on this 4-day excursion. Goodness!

Leader of the pack, Scott, led most off-trail excursions & his sisters were eager to follow his lead. Our kids LOVE to climb rocks, fill their pockets with rocks & now that we're home, they're trading rocks. I'm sure to find ROCKS in my washing machine once I get the laundry going... it's inevitable with this crew.

Fall Get-Away

Our family enjoyed a trip to the NC mountains where we had a chance to RELAX! It was great.
Eric enjoyed doing some fly fishing & caught 3 trout. The camera batteries died on his 2nd excursion, so... didn't get a picture of the big one!

Picnic on Mount Mitchell: After a long morning hike, we found the perfect sunny spot to picnic. Our girls LOVE picnics & this table was secluded, on the edge of the mountain & surrounded by some great climbing rocks. What a great way to relax & soak in the beauty of nature.

The kids enjoy picking apples in the orchard at Altapass each fall. The crop was down 60% this year, so there wasn't a large variety to pick from like last year. But, we enjoyed the mountain air while we picked & ate apples.

Marshmallow roast: I can't think of a better way to relax than to roast marshmallows & sip hot chocolate. Good times!

Game night: Another great way to relax... playing games as a family. Our current faves are Rummikub & UNO. Here, the girls are playing Bratz checkers. We also enjoy BINGO & Dominoes... classics at their best!
